Walk for the Animals

Grab a leash and your pooch for the Animal Protection Society of Durham's 1.5-mile walk to raise money to help animals. The organization cares for 5,000 creatures annually who are homeless, abandoned, neglected or abused. Join in to help give Durham critters the second chance they deserve. All ages and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
American Dance Festival

The American Dance Festival's 86th season, dedicated to Paul Taylor, includes 38 performances featuring 25 modern dance companies in five venues. This year, legendary choreographers Taylor, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham are highlighted. New works include ADF-commissioned world premieres by Eiko, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble and North Carolina's Murielle Elizéon & Tommy Noonan.

The free Raleigh arts festival spotlights 180 juried visual artists and crafters from across the state and nation selling original ceramics, fiber art, glass, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, wood and other works. Live music and large-scale installations as well as interactive crafts and performances for children round out the weekend.

The annual event features options for every age group, such as an out-and-back course, a kids' dash and a 1-mile fun run. Additional excitement includes live music, a survivor/thriver celebration, family fun, slap shot with the Carolina Hurricanes, and a tailgate zone with food trucks and local breweries. The inspirational gathering raises funds and awareness for breast health programs.
