Part 1 | Part 2

By Debra Simon

Around the world and back in time. By the Mediterranean Sea and in Asia. Across to California and out to rural lands. This season, designers have escapism, multiculturalism and globetrotting on their minds.

Romantic or pragmatic, boho or hipster, there's something wonderfully wearable. In the previous issue, we covered Bright Lights, Down to Earth, Sleeve Treatment, Suiting Up, Out of Balance, Summer of Love, Craft Fair and Mad for Print.

Birds of a Feather

Whimsical or luxurious, feathers and other frilly things are pumping up the volume. The more-is-more aesthetic adorns the front of a blouse, the neckline of a pantsuit, the hem of a dress or just about any part of any ensemble.

Little White, Uh, Dress

The LWD that's just right for you is out there. And it may not even be a dress! Available in a host of fabrics (say, cotton vs. silk) and design details (relaxed vs. tailored), the new standard bearer has even morphed into skirts, trousers and pantsuits.

Colorblock This

Pink peacock and lemon verbena. Aspen gold and clearwater blue. Two-toned looks are all the rage from tops to pair with jeans to flowy dresses and everything in between. One thing they have in common: The color combinations are fearless.

Short Stuff

We're borrowing from the boys in biker shorts, tailored shorts, micro shorts, knee-length shorts, shorts suits – shorts of every kind, really. Typically a staple of the athleisure wardrobe, this season's "it" item is often paired with couture tops and signature jackets.
